Level 40

Happy New Year peeps!

Welcome to a brand new Buckets of Coffee. A place where creativity blends poetry, art, and a mini running journal. Welcome, to 2022.

Well, I end another year without running an ultra. Covid all but cancelled the second attempt. It went virtual, but the crushing disappointment of not being able to travel and experience the lot of it, halted all the training.

And wanna hear the slightly disappointing big year finale of my running journey for 2021? The last three months of the year was spent sitting on my butt, mostly, simply watching TV, wallowing in self pity.

I’m about 80% ok with it though. After all the hard training in the summer, some of my muscles needed a break. I did spend some of the time on my mat, stretching and meditating, or at least attempting to.

I miss the rush though, the aching muscles, the exhausted mind. In the last couple of months of the year, I did almost manage to convince myself to go for a short run on the beach, but the lure of a warm cozy bed and another cup of steamy coffee always won the battle.

This year, it’s going to be a good one. Level 40. To say that I’ve sorta been freaking out about this one is an understatement.

But, I’ve gotta say, of all the months to have a birthday, January has got to be best. Brand new year, one year older. Resolutions and birthday wishes all rolled into one nice bundle. Then, I’ve got 12 months to figure out how the hell to get to where I want to be before another year rolls around.

So January, the start of a brand new training block. This time, I’ve reformatted the plan, really hoping that I’ve learnt at least a few things from last year. Maybe this year, this year I can accomplish the lofty goal of running an ultra marathon, the resolution for 2022. I’ll let you know how it goes. As for birthday wishes, I’ve got three. Ice cream cake, a hot tub to soak in, and well, a secret birthday wish that I can’t tell you about.

They may not all come true.

Thanks for sticking with me, I appreciate you. Feel free to peruse around the site and see if there is something that catches your attention.

Cheers!
